In 1955, DSS\u0026amp;A purchased this group of secondhand hoppers from the Lackawanna. The cars were repainted and pressed into service hauling gravel. In 1961, the DSS\u0026amp;A was merged with the Minneapolis St. Paul \u0026amp; Sault Ste. Marie (the original Soo Line) and their longtime subsidiary Wisconsin Central. The new combined company became Soo Line Railroad although the new company was actually formed around DSS\u0026amp;A's corporate charter.
