Why Buy From Trainz?

A Frisco steam locomotive hustles its charge up a slight grade in the Ozark Mountains! A Spring thunderstorm breaks up overhead as the sun plays hide-and seek between passing clouds. The St. Louis and San Francisco Railway rostered a sizable fleet of steam locomotives. Railway management saw to it that these iron horses were always immaculate in appearance. One of these locomotives is depicted here, pulling one of the road's regional passenger trains through the beautiful Ozark Mountains in the spring of 1950! Of particular note are the distinctive upper-quadrant semaphore signals, which the railway company used in its signaling system. These, as well as the railway company, are now relics of a bygone era. The Frisco system was absorbed into the massive BNSF Railroad Empire. Scenes such as this, come from the heart, as this was a commision. However, they are based upon prototypically accurate circumstances. In this case, knife-edged ballast, attractive trains, beautiful scenery, and lots of action. Out of the 500 or so paintings Robert West has done, this is one of his personal favorites, as it reminds him of the true master of railroad artwork, the late, great Mr. Howard Fogg, our dean of Railroad Illustrators, everywhere, ie: Fogg and Steam...
