While the design was loved by many, the 6-8-6 would ultimately present too many problems in both maintenance and performance before actually being scrapped for good by 1960. No known 6-8-6 models exist today as the focus greatly shifted to diesel models by the 1960s. The surfaces of both the locomotive and tender show moderate nicks, scratches, and signs of surface rust. Additionally, paint on both items show heavy signs of wear, chipping, and lettering is faded. The red emblem on the front of the locomotive is chipped. This item has been out on display previously and its overall appearance could be significantly improved with a thorough dusting or a light wipe down. This item has been inspected by our repair shop.
