This term -- Madison-style -- was not used by Lionel in its catalogues or literature, but was created by Lionel enthusiasts during the post-war era. To this day, the Madison-style passenger cars remain in demand by collectors and operators. The 2625 is a unusual car. It was produced with three different car names during its production era. For 1946 and 1947, the 2625 was produced with Irvington, Madison and Manhattan lettering below the windows. Beginning in 1948, the Madison and Manhattan cars were assigned their own numbers -- 2627 and 2628 respectively -- and the 2625 was only available with the Irvington name. It features a Bakelite body, an illuminated interior, clear window strips, plastic truck sides with operating metal couplers, and metal wheels and axles. It measures approximately 15\" inches long. The Irvington cars were Lionel‘s top of the line passenger cars in the 1940s.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance.
