You manually load the ice cubes with the loading chute, and then position the reefer car that has a specially designed roof ice hatch. When the little ice man pushes the cube with his paddle, the roof hatch opens on the car, allowing the ice cube to drop in to keep that load of ice in the PFE reefer fresh!
