Many of these specialized cars saw service through the late 1950s. They frequently ran in passenger trains in order to get the perishable cargo to its destination in the shortest amount of time. The Lionel Milk Cars ride on sprung diecast metal passenger car trucks and also include sprung buffers just like the prototype.
