Originally, when Lionel brought out the 8872-73 Santa Fe SD-18 Diesels in 1978, they also made a 9174 Santa Fe Caboose in prototypical red and black markings. However, many collectors complained that it did not match the locomotive, so Lionel made the 9317 the following year to match the engine. This car is lighted and features plastic trucks, operating knuckle couplers, and metal wheels and axles.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance.
