The 614 Alaska EMD NW2 Yard Switcher was introduced by Lionel in 1959 and was sold for two years (through 1960). This unit is unique among all postwar Lionel engines because of the yellow Dynamic Brake Superstructure mounted on top of the motor cover in front of the cab. It is the only postwar diesel to ever include this realistic diesel accessory. This Locomotive features Magnetraction, a light, two non-operating couplers and a 2-position reversing unit (There is no neutral, just forward and reverse.), durable plastic shell, die-cast metal trucks, metal wheels and axles.
