Hereis a Lionel 6464-350 Vintage O Missouri-Kansas-Texas Katy Boxcar - Type IIB RARE! from 1956. This car was offered for one year only and is one of the hardest regular-production 6464 boxcars to find. This boxcar features a Type IIB body, sliding doors, die-cast metal trucks, die-cast metal operating knuckle couplers, metal wheels and axles. It is 10-1/2 inches long. The 6464-350 MKT (Missouri-Kansas-Texas) box car was produced for only a single year -- 1956. Production of these box cars allowed Lionel to market a realistic and almost scale-like box car never previously seen in the Lionel family. The 6464-style box cars were an immediate success and remained in the Lionel catalogue up until their final year of postwar production, 1969. Even today, all 6464-style box cars remain a favorite of collectors and operators. The 6464-350 is a rare box car. It was never offered in a Lionel set and was only available as a separate sale item. Additionally, with its rather plain -- although realistic -- exterior graphics, it was not a strong selling freight car. Locating a collectable example -- especially with the original box -- will be a time consuming and expensive search.
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. There are a few light scratches and scuffs in the plastic construction. There is light rust on the brake-wheel, trim panels and axles. The wheels show wear and light tarnish from previous use. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. The instruction manual is not included. The original box is not included.
