This is the later, 1964 version. This engine was based on the legendary 700E Scale Hudson and is a less detailed version intended for use on regular Lionel O-31 track. It features a smoke unit (not present on the 700E), Magnetraction, and a whistle in the tender. It only ran for two years (1950 and 1964), but it was clearly the top of the line locomotive in Lionel's steam roster. The included 2426W tender is not correct for a 1964 model but did come with the 1950 version. Here is a great chance to own one of the great engines of the Postwar Era.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eKnown as the Baltic in Europe and the Hudson in North America, the 4-6-4 was introduced in the early 20th century finding success in hauling freight and as a shunting model. Their use would initially find great success on North American railways before eventually becoming mainstays in rail-yards around the world.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. The locomotive runs when in forward but is jerky when run in reverse. The whistle works but sounds better at higher voltage. The light is non-functional. This item displays scratches and spots of paint loss across the body and underframe. There are a number of scratches and scuffs on the underside of the tender that have resulted in paint loss. Several of the handrails and grab irons are slightly bent. One of the eccentric crank rods is slightly bent out of shape. The wheels and rolling pickups show signs of average use. A vial of Lionel smoke pellets is included. The original boxes are included. The instruction manual is included. This item has been inspected by our repair shop.
