Unfortunately, a drastic decline in demand for passenger service in the '60s led to the abandonment of these fine diesels. During that time, there was a shift to more utilitarian general purpose locomotives, which went on to dominate the railroad landscape for two decades. Once again the E-8 returns to the RailKing line complete with all the big fun and excitement that this able handler of passenger trains provides.
