Two New York Central trains race each other somewhere along the Hudson River in New York State! This painting reflects the New York Central at its best. Two classes of North American railroading are represented. The first is represented by the two main means of propulsion, steam, and diesel! The second, is the distinction of being the grand conveyance, the passenger train in relationship to the freight train! The passenger train is being pulled by a lash-up of brand new Electromotive E-7 class diesel locomotives. The freight train; however, has in it's charge a Niagra class steam locomotive. The New York Central continued to believe that traditional reciprocating steam locomotives were a competitive motive-power solution for North American locomotives, as Diesel was replacing steam on most trains. This print is a tribute to the New York Central Railroad and it's fans everywhere!
