Introduced at the turn of the 20th century, the 2-8-2 was an innovator breaking from the traditional manufacturing of locomotives, and featuring a larger firebox paving the way for greater speeds at a higher rate of power! Before we knew it, the 2-8-2 also known as the \"Mikado\" found itself in rail yards around the world from the United States to the Congo hauling freight from stop to stop. The Mikado would undergo a temporary name change after the Pearl Harbor bombing in 1941 shortly going by the McArthur, before eventually going back to the Mikado name after WW2. This locomotive ran well when tested in forward and reverse. This item is custom painted and decorated, and displays light scratches and paint imperfections across the body and underframe. The wheels show average run-time. The original box is included along with the foam liner. The instruction manual is not included. This item has been inspected by our repair shop.
