Here is a Lionel 416 Vintage Standard Gauge State Green New York State Observation Car. Naturally, a train consisting of three magnificent Pullmans had to have an equally magnificent observation car at its end. The New York performed this function admirably. Its construction details were similar to those of the Pullmans, but in addition to ornate brass handrails and steps of those cars, there was a fancy brass railing on an observation platform on the tail end of the car. A large glazed window looked out over this platform, also revealing the detailed interior. A drumhead on the rear railing proclaimed either "Lionel Limited" or "Transcontinental Limited." This observation car is designated as a (Type I) with State Green painted body, dark green roof, and apple green window inserts.
This car features tinplate construction with a highly detailed interior, interior lighting, brass hand rails, journals, and steps, metal latch couplers, trucks, wheels and axles. This passenger car measures approximately 21.5 inches in length.
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. This item displays scratches and spots of paint loss across the body and underframe. Surface rust is present on the underside of the item as well as on the wheels, axles, and other unpainted metal parts. Several of the window pieces are detached or missing. The wheels and rolling pickups show signs of average use. The original box is not included. The instruction manual is not included. Please check the photos for a detailed look at this item. Overall condition is Very Good.
