Here is the great Lionel 773 4-6-4 Hudson Steam Locomotive w/Tender #2426W from the Postwar Era. This is the later, 1964 version. This engine was based on the legendary 700E Scale Hudson and is a less detailed version intended for use on regular Lionel O-31 track. It features a smoke unit (not present on the 700E), Magnetraction, and a whistle in the tender. It only ran for two years (1950 and 1964), but it was clearly the top of the line locomotive in Lionel's steam roster. The included 2426W tender is not correct for a 1964 model but did come with the 1950 version. Here is a great chance to own one of the great engines of the Postwar Era.
Known as the Baltic in Europe and the Hudson in North America, the 4-6-4 was introduced in the early 20th century finding success in hauling freight and as a shunting model. Their use would initially find great success on North American railways before eventually becoming mainstays in rail-yards around the world.
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. The original cow-catcher has been replaced. Two of the tender's corner steps show light corossion. The tother two tender steps are bent. The locomotive and tender show scratches and spots of paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis. The locomotive and tender show rust throughout various sections of the chassis and trucks. This item has been inspected by our repair shop. Please see the attached picture for inspection details and additional operation information. The instruction manual is not included. The original box is not included.
