G Scale Figures

G scale figures are one of the easiest ways to make a large-scale railroad feel complete. Engineers in the cab, passengers waiting on station platforms, workers loading freight, farmers in the fields, and families around town help transform buildings and scenery into a believable garden railway instead of a collection of models.

Trainz offers G scale figures for sale for every type of layout, from railroad crews and townspeople to animals, emergency personnel, military figures, and seasonal scenes. Our inventory regularly includes new, pre-owned, collectible, and discontinued G scale model people from leading manufacturers.

The best G scale layouts include a variety of people doing everyday activities. Mixing different figure types throughout your railroad creates natural-looking scenes and keeps every area of the layout interesting.

• Railroad engineers and train crews
• Railroad workers and maintenance personnel
• Townspeople, travelers, and seated passengers
• Farmers and agricultural workers
• Firefighters, police officers, and emergency personnel
• Military figures and service members
• Animals and livestock
• Christmas, winter, circus, carnival, and recreational figures

When selecting G scale figures, think about the purpose of each area on your railroad. Passenger stations look more realistic with waiting travelers, industries benefit from workers and equipment operators, while neighborhoods, parks, and farms become more believable with families, animals, and everyday people.

Rather than filling every open space, place figures where activity would naturally occur. Small groups often create a more convincing scene than dozens of identical figures spread throughout the layout.

Manufacturers including Preiser, Woodland Scenics, LGB, PIKO, Bachmann Scenescapes, Noch, Faller, and Merten have produced G scale figures covering railroad personnel, townspeople, workers, animals, seasonal displays, and complete figure sets for garden railways. Depending on current inventory, Trainz may also offer discontinued and hard-to-find releases.

Figures work best when combined with other G scale accessories. Place railroad crews near locomotives, passengers beside stations, mechanics around engine facilities, farmers near barns, and families outside homes and businesses. Pairing G scale figures with buildings, vehicles, roads, signs, and landscaping creates scenes that naturally draw attention as trains pass through.

Many hobbyists find that adding just a handful of well-placed G scale figures creates a greater sense of realism than adding another building or accessory. It's often the people who bring a garden railway to life.
