Building an O Gauge Freight Train
Freight trains can be assembled around a particular railroad, era, industry, or operating style. Some hobbyists build mixed consists with cars from several railroads, while others collect matching road names, coordinated car sets, or equipment from a specific period.
When adding cars to your railroad, consider car length, coupler style, wheelsets, condition, minimum curve requirements, and how the equipment fits the locomotive and era you want to model. Mixing different freight-car styles can give a consist the varied appearance seen on real railroads without requiring every car to come from the same manufacturer.
