In 1998 the proto family expanded with the unveiling of the Proto 1000 Series in HO scale. Life Like, acquired by Walthers in 2005, introduced the Proto 2000 series 10 years prior. The 1000 series consists of a collection of locomotive and freight car models with more rugged details.
