This is an LGB 20831 Denver Rio Grande and Western K-28 Steam Locomotive, No. 473, Limited Edition. This special edition model has been hand crafted for Ernst Paul Lehmann Patentwerk by Aster Hobby, one of the world‘s foremost makers of metal model trains. Production of this LGB/Aster locomotive has been limited to 500 models worldwide. This detailed replica features a diecast locomotive with brass trim pieces, and the tender has a brass construction and detailing, complete cab interior, prototypical cab and tender bodies, detailed boiler, operating drive rods and fully detailed Walschaerts valve gear, 3-way power control switch, 2 seven-pole Buhler motors, 8 powered wheels, 12 power pickups (8 locomotive wheels, 4 tender wheels), voltage stabilization circuit (5 volts), smoke generator, lighted cab interior and tender “doghouse“, automatic directional lanterns, illuminated marker lights and number boards, measures approximately 37“ long, and weighs about 17 pounds. This unit has knuckle couplers.
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. The smoke will sometimes not operate when the locomotive is idling. The locomotive's front step pieces are slightly bent. There are minor spots of dirt settled into the shells of both the locomotive and tender. The locomotive and tender do appear to have been previously run outdoors. A layer of shelf dust has settled onto the locomotive and tender. The locomotive and tender show scratches and spots of paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis. This item has been inspected by our repair shop. Please see the attached picture for inspection details and additional operation information. The instruction manual is included. The original box is included.
