Bachmann is truly an international company and is actually owned by the Chinese company the Kader Group, Bachmann has been around for a long time, since 1833 but didn't get into model trains until right after World War II when they introduced their "Plasticville" buildings that were hugely popular to go with Lionel Trains, especially in the 1950's, and actually still are!
