Here is a Lionel 2025 Vintage O 2-6-2 Die-Cast Steam Locomotive & 6466W Tender from 1947-52. Derived from the prewar era 225E, the 2025 features one of the smoothest drive trains in any Lionel Postwar Era steam engine. Features include a decorative bell, die-cast metal construction, an operating smoke unit, an operating headlight, a 3-position E-unit, metal side rods, metal wheels and exquisite detail. The matching tender is a 2466W or a 6466W.
Brought onto the scene in the late 19th century and continuing use into the early 20th century, the 2-6-2 was a durable little model with some even surviving through the first World War seeing continued use in smaller capacities. These models were used for a variety of purposes from hauling coal loads to pulling smaller passenger cars. The North American model soon became known as the "Prairie" model and would quickly become a favorite in rail-yards around the world!
There is a sound system and internals installed from the previous owner.
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. The internals of the locomotive have been modified to add what seems to be a sound device in the tender, however this created a tandem pairing between the engine and the tender making the engine not able to operate when uncoupled from the tender. There also seems to be an issue with the sound device making it not operate and the engine struggles to reverse direction. There are light nicks and scratches on the surface of the shell and chassis of both the engine and the tender. The wheels and rolling pickups show signs of average use. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. The original boxes are not included. Please check the photos for a detailed look at this item.
