Lionel 225E Vintage O 2-6-2 Die-Cast Steam Locomotive w/2245W Tender VG

Here is a Lionel 225E Vintage O 2-6-2 Die-Cast Steam Locomotive w/2245W Tender. The 225E was a mainstay of Lionel‘s line in the late 1930s and early 40s. One of the first of Lionel‘s die cast steamers, the 225E mold was used to make the 675/2025 steam engines of the Postwar era. This locomotive features a motor, reverse unit and has an illuminated interior.

Brought onto the scene in the late 19th century and continuing use into the early 20th century, the 2-6-2 was a durable little model with some even surviving through the first World War seeing continued use in smaller capacities. These models were used for a variety of purposes from hauling coal loads to pulling smaller passenger cars. The North American model soon became known as the "Prairie" model and would quickly become a favorite in rail-yards around the world!

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good. The locomotive and tender have been re-painted. The locomotive is missing the pilot. The locomotive shows zinc pest on the front end of the chassis. Several grab-iron pieces on the tender are broken. These items show scratches and spots of paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis. These items show spots of rust on the chassis and trucks. The overall appearance of each item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. This item has been inspected by our repair shop.
