Here is a Lionel 2625 Vintage O Lionel Lines Madison Heavyweight "Irvington" Passenger Car. This is the 1950 version with silhouettes in the windows. The 2625 Pullman Passenger Car is part of the Madison-style passenger car series. This term -- Madison-style -- was not used by Lionel in its catalogs or literature but was created by Lionel enthusiasts during the postwar era. To this day, the Madison-style passenger cars remain in demand by collectors and operators. The 2625 is an unusual car. It was produced with three different car names during its production era. For 1946 and 1947, the 2625 was produced with Irvington, Madison, and Manhattan lettering below the windows. Beginning in 1948, the Madison and Manhattan cars were assigned their own numbers -- 2627 and 2628 respectively -- and the 2625 was only available with the Irvington name. It features a bakelite body, an illuminated interior, silhouette window strips, and metal trucks with operating metal couplers. It measures 15 inches long. The Irvington cars were Lionel‘s top of the line passenger cars in the 1940s.
