Even as late as the 1940’s and 1950’s, wood-sheathed reefer cars dominated this reefer line. Beginning in 1941, the mighty Big Boy hauled seemingly endless lines of these refrigerator cars loaded with California perishables across the country. Decorated with the familiar U.P. shield and available in four unique road numbers, the new Lionel P.F.E. reefers are handsome and accurate compliments to the new Big Boy locomotives and CA-4 Cabooses.
