This is a nice Lionel 6415 Sunoco Triple Dome Tank Car from 1953-69. This is the earlier version from 1953 - 1955 with the bar-end metal trucks. The 6415 Sunoco triple-dome tank car was one of only two triple-dome tankers produced by Lionel in the postwar era -- the other being the 6425 Gulf. Lionel's model is a detailed and realistic representation of an actual 70 ton tank car. The 6415 Sunoco tank car is easy to locate and generally reasonably priced when found. The standard features of the 6415 include a painted silver tank, molded black plastic frame, metal handrails, two metal ladders, brake stand with brake wheel, two operating couplers plus a filler cap next to each dome. The lettering is either blue or black. The 1953 thru 1955 model was equipped with metal bar-end trucks while the 1964 to 1969 model has plastic AAR trucks. In either case, it always had two operating couplers. This tank car features die-cast metal trucks, die-cast metal operating knuckle couplers, metal wheels and axles.
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good. This car shows scratches and paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis. This car shows spots of rust on the chassis and trucks. The instruction manual is not included. The original box is not included. Please check the photos for a detailed look at this item.
