Here is a super rare Lionel 6456-75 Lehigh Valley hopper in glossy red with yellow lettering! Lionel briefly experimented with this color combination, and these cars are quite scarce today. Features of the 6456 include...die-cast metal trucks, two operating knuckle couplers and a single brake wheel. Until 1954, the 6456 was either a black or maroon hopper with white lettering. Beginning in 1954, the 6456 experienced several color changes. One of these variations is the Glossy Red Hopper with White Lettering was the rarest. It is by far, the most sought after of the 6456‘s. What makes it rare is that it only had one run in 1954, and it features WHITE Lettering not the usual yellow lettering we see in the other Lehigh‘s. This car has the yellow lettering on the red body which is still quite a scare car to find.
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. This car has a couple nicks and minor chips in the paint on the sides of the body. There are some surface rust spots on the underside of the trucks and the wheels as well. It is still a great example of the rare glossy variation for this car though! The instruction manual is not included. The original box is included. Please check the photos for a detailed look at this item. Overall condition is Very Good.
