It was used with Suburban commuter service. Features include a 21-pin digital connector, 5-pole motor with a skewed armature and flywheel centrally mounted, 4 axles on the middle car powered through cardan shafts, die-cast metal frame on middle car, headlights are maintenance-free warm white LED‘s and will work in conventional operation, triple headlights and dual red marker lights which change over with the direction of travel, electrical pickup change over feature on end cars, the pickups at the front of the train pickup current, lighted train destination signs which can be controlled digitally along with the triple headlights, close coupler guide mechanisms and electrical connections between the cars, special coupling included enables you to couple the train to additional ET 420 units for prototypical operations, the 66718 interior lighting kits can be installed in the train, different destination signs for the S-Bahn networks in Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Munich, and the Ruhr area are included, highly detailed plastic bodies with many separately applied parts such as grab irons, electrical plugs, windshield wipers, antennas, whistles, and horns, interior details in several colors, detailed representation of the Scharfenberg coupler (non-working) at the ends of the train, and the length over the couplers is: 30-1/2“. The dummy unit, item no. 24620, is recommended for lengthening this train.
