This is Bachmann 20903 O Lehigh Valley Alco FA1 A-A Diesel Locomotive Set. Struggling to compete with GM’s dominance, ALCO introduced its first diesel locomotive, the FA-1 in 1945. ALCO realized that there was a tremendous demand to satisfy from the railroads phasing out steam power. The unit was designed as a dual purpose locomotive suitable for freight & passenger service. ALCO produced almost 700 units between 1945 - 1950 for railroads all over the country. Its key features are: navigates 0-27 curves, AA length 27.25, height 4, 4 wheel power trucks with traction tires, dual motors, flywheel coasting action, all metal gears, electronic 6-amp reverse board, True Blast II digital horn and bell, durable ABS plastic shell, diecast trucks, truck sides, and pilots, 20 individually installed grabrails, front headlights, etched metal grills covering side vents and roof fan.
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. The top of the powered unit has paint scratched off. There are light scratches on the sides of the powered unit. The bottom of the powered unit's trucks have light scratches and gear grease residue. There is a small nick where the paint is scratched off on the side of the powered unit. The dummy unit has has missing paint on the front. The bottom of the dummy unit's trucks have minor scratches. One of the windows of the dummy unit is pushed in a little. The top of the dummy unit has minor scratches. The wheels show average run-time. The instruction manual is not included. The original box is included. The outer box has a scratch on the side. The boxes show minor wear on the sides and creases. Please see photos for details. Overall condition is Very Good.
