Trainz.com has acquired the library of parts diagrams created by Sal Olsen’s Toy Train Parts, and is incorporating them into our existing free exploded view parts diagrams library. This purchase expands our database beyond Lionel, adding information on American Flyer, Ives, Dorfan, Marx, and other manufacturers.
In addition to the diagrams, Trainz has purchased Olsen’s inventory of parts which will be added to our existing parts inventory of over 36,000 individual SKUs. Tooling and machinery has been acquired as well, and plans are underway to resume parts production in the future.
This is the latest in a series of business decisions made by Trainz.com founder Scott Griggs to support the model train community’s right to repair and maintain their collection. Additional efforts include the newly-released Trainz TMCC/RailSounds test fixtures available with or without tested modules; over 800 circuit boards; acquisition of OEM Lionel TMCC and Legacy parts; and online Trainz Academy modern-era repair courses taught by Mike Reagan (Lionel) and Don Lockwood (MTH).
