This is a Lionel 1587S Girls' Train Set with a 2037-500 Pink Locomotive. This Extremely Rare Lionel 1587S Girls' Set was originally sold in 1957 and 1958. It was an attempt to broaden the appeal of toy trains to girls by offering a train with a pink engine and tender and several pastel colored freight cars. The attempt failed; not many were sold; and pastel colors were mostly discontinued. Today, it is one of the most valued Lionel sets in existence. This set includes the powered 2037-500 Pink Steam Locomotive w/Smoke, 1130T-500 Pink Lionel Lines Tender, 6436-500 Lilac Lehigh Valley Hopper, 6462-500 Pink NYC Canister Car w/canisters, 6464-510 Pastel Green NYC Pacemaker Car, 6464-515 Pastel Yellow MKT Boxcar, 6427-500 Pastel Blue Pennsylvania Porthole Caboose, and the 1043-500 White 60 Watt Transformer.
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. The wheels show average run-time. There are signs of paint loss. This item has small spots of rusting.
