This is a Lionel 2025 2-6-2 Die-Cast Steam Locomotive from 1947-52. The 2025 and the similar 675 are Postwar versions of the 225E from the late 1930s. This engine is the 1947 Model which features a reverse unit, smoke, headlight, and all-metal construction. The tender is a 2466WX and includes a whistle and has a plastic body with a metal frame. This engine has a reputation as one of Lionel's best running steam engines. Please see my pictures for additional features.
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-5: Good based on visual appearance. The locomotive operates when powered, but the whistle on the tender does not turn on. There is noticeable rusting on the brightwork of the locomotive, the wheels and axels on the pilot and trailer of the locomotive, and in the internals of the trucks on the tender. One of the arms on the drive wheels is broken and may need to be reattached to prevent operation impediments. There are noticeable nicks and scratches on the surface of the shell and chassis of both the locomotive and on the tender. The wheels and rolling pickups show signs of average use. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. The original box is not included. Please check the photos for a detailed look at this item.
