This is a Lionel 2245T Texas Special F-3 Non-Powered A Diesel Locomotive from 1954-55. The 2245 Texas Special F3 A unit of the mid 1950s is another one of the quality F3 diesels produced by Lionel. Lionel catalogued the Texas Special F3 as an 027 gauge item. The 2245 is unusual in that it was produced for only two years and there are two distinct versions of both the A and B unit. The 2245 was included in several colorful sets and remains popular with collectors today. Features include, portholes, diecast metal trucks, an operating headlight, metal wheels and operating knuckle couplers.
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. The interior lighting works on this unit. The body of the locomotive is starting to loosen from the base at the front of the unit. The sticker decals are peeling and yellowed with age. There is significant paint and body chipping all over the body of the locomotive. There are significant scratches on the body and undercarriage of this unit. There is significant dust and grime buildup on this unit from the previous owner. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning.
