Here is a Lionel 6-27361 O Gauge Pacific Fruit Express 40-Foot Wood-Sided Reefer. As early as 1906, the Union Pacific refrigerator car line was maintained through Pacific Fruit Express Company. Even as late as the 1940’s and 1950’s, wood-sheathed reefer cars dominated this reefer line. Beginning in 1941, the mighty Big Boy hauled seemingly endless lines of these refrigerator cars loaded with California perishables across the country. Decorated with the familiar U.P. shield and available in four unique road numbers, the new Lionel P.F.E. reefers are handsome and accurate compliments to the new Big Boy locomotives and CA-4 Cabooses. Features include Die-cast metal sprung trucks for improved tracking, especially through switches, Operating couplers—uncouple cars automatically with a remote-control or uncoupling track section, Scale proportions, Super-detailed with many separately-applied metal parts, Prototypical paint schemes, Minimum Curve: O-31 (Except where noted), Perfectly sized to match Lionel Standard O Locomotives, Hidden uncoupling tabs, Die-cast metal chassis, Separately applied metal details, Underside brake detailing, Removable roof, Opening doors, Separate ice bunkers, and Includes load of twelve crates. Gauge: Standard O Minimum Curve: O-31. This item was released for the first time in the Lionel 2006 V2 Catalog.
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. One of the latches for a roof hatch has broken off and is not included. The wheels show average run-time. There are light rub marks and scratches on the surface of the shell and chassis. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning.
