This is a Lionel 31773 Norfoklk Southern Dash 9 TankTrain Set.They’re back again in a new set and paint scheme. Scale-sized, interconnecting TankTrain tank cars by Lionel, pulled for the first time by a LEGACY-equipped locomotive. Using a system of interlinking hoses and valves, TankTrain cars are all connected for efficiency. This system allows liquid to be loaded or unloaded from just one end of a TankTrain string, at a rate of 3,000 gallons per minute!
This Lionel train set features a string of five TankTrain cars headed by a scale-sized black beauty - the Norfolk Southern Dash 9 #9039, equipped with LEGACY Command Control, Odyssey II Speed Control, and LEGACY RailSounds. Each tank car features many separately applied details, such as piping and walkways. In the tradition of modern caboose-less railroading, an End-of-Train Device is mounted on the rear of the B-end car. An additional TankTrain 3-pack in the jet black and white GATX scheme is also offered. In addition, consider adding the non-powered Norfolk Southern Dash 9 to your consist.
Included is a dash 9 diesel locomotive, one A-end TankTrain tank car, three intermediate TankTrain tank cars, one B-end TankTrain tank car with flashing ETD. The locomotive features LEGACY Control System equipped-able to run in LEGACY Control mode, in TrainMaster Command Control Mode, or in Conventional mode with a standard transformer, Odyssey II Speed Control with ON/OFF switch, LEGACY RailSounds sound system featuring... CrewTalk dialog and TowerCom announcements, each with different scenarios depending on whether the locomotive is in motion or stopped, Five official railroad speeds with CrewTalk dialog, Eight diesel RPM levels, LEGACY "Real-Time Quilling Horn" control with instant response for realistic signature "quilling" and correctly timed warning signals, Single hit or continuous mechanical bell sounds, Directional lighting, including operating LED headlights and operating ditch lights, Two ElectroCouplers, Dual maintenance-free powerful motors with momentum flywheels, Refined conventional transformer control mode, Fan-driven smoke unit, Four traction tires, Die-cast metal trucks, pilots, and fuel tank, Metal frame and handrails, Separately applied details, Lighted number boards, Illuminated cab interior, Die-cast metal trucks, Engineer and fireman figures and the locootive measures 17 1/2 inches long. A single car measures 15 1/2 inches long and the set measures 146 inches long. The minimum curve radius is O-31.
