Here is a TMT 18206 Sears Holiday Car Carrier Truck Sampler. This is from the Season's Greetings 1999 credti card limited edition. There were only 47,280 of these ever made.
All of the TMT vehicles were highly detailed and decorated with colorful graphics. The vehicles come equipped with Lights & Sound, with the exception of the car carriers, they are only equipped with lights. Most of the interiors of the cabs are also illuminated. The sound on the fuel tanker is activated by pressing one of the fuel caps. Many of the TMT vehicles are also banks, with the coin slot located at the top of the vehicle. The tires are all made of real rubber and are marked with the “Taylor” name on the outside rim of the tires. The license plate denotes the year in which the vehicle was manufactured. Some of the logos on the tanker trucks actually are illuminated, which is an interesting feature to this brand. Another factor that boosts the collectability of the TMT truck, is that many of these vehicles were only offered by companies to their credit card customers. The trucks are serially numbered, on the bottom of the vehicle, in sequential order to denote in what order they were produced. Some of the vehicles come with removable die-cast automobiles. All of the Taylor Made Trucks are 1/32 Scale, proportionately sized.
Each vehicle was produced as a limited edition and the quantities were limited. The serial number is heat stamped on the bottom of the battery compartment.
Pre-Production Sample – This sample is the earliest version the factory sent to TMT, the manufacturer of the vehicle, to inspect for color and design discrepancies and to make sure the sample is ready for production. There is nothing heat-stamped on the bottom of these vehicles.
Production Sample – This is the sample that the factory sends to both TMT and the client (i.e. Texaco) for a final OK, before production begins. There is nothing heat-stamped on the bottom of these vehicles.
Sampler – These were promotional Samples that were limited in production, and were given to the client for whom the vehicle was made for. They usually distributed the vehicles to employee’s and their customers. The word “SAMPLER” is heat-stamped on the bottom of the vehicle.
Gold Sampler – These samples are of the most rare and most difficult to find. They are similar to the “Sampler”, but they are decorated with gold accents rather than chrome. On the bottom of the vehicle, the word “SAMPLER” is heat-stamped in gold lettering. Or, the serial number is heat-stamped in gold lettering. The Gold Sampler comes in a special white box, with an embossed seal either in white or gold.
Lube Oil Legends Truck – This line was produced to reflect the nostalgic era of oil companies such as Amoco, Esso, Shell, Mobil, Phillips 66, etc.
